Good Old Games Releases Cryptic Baldur’s Gate-Including Video

The Good Old Games closure scenario becomes even more mysterious this afternoon, with what appears to be an odd teaser video posted to Youtube.
The digital download service abruptly announced its closure on Sunday, taking down the GOG.com website and replacing it with a rather fluffy statement. Earlier today, the website was updated with a cryptic explanation that the service has been forced to shut “due to business and techncial reasons” and that a full statement would follow Wednesday.
But now there’s a Youtube video, which thanks users for their support over the last two years before flashing up a series of lightning-fast stills of what appears to be… a new version of the service, perhaps?
Either way, you can definitely see Baldur’s Gate – and that certainly wasn’t there before.
If this has all been an elaborate marketing campaign for a newly revamped Good Old Games, I can’t say I’m too impressed. Folks haven’t been able to access their purchased games since before the weekend, and GOG.com’s management has been hugely tight-lipped about what’s going on. A lot of people are disappointed and frustrated. If that’s all been for the sake of PR… well, it isn’t exactlygreat PR in my mind.
As usual, we’ll keep you posted. The video’s below.
