Molyneux considered replacing the Fable dog with a parrot for Fable III

Fable creator tempted to switch animal sidekicks for Fable III thanks to John Cleese's involvement.

Peter Molyneux has said that he considered replacing Fable II's dog with a parrot for Fable III "so you could do the parrot sketch that had John Cleese in," but the team at Lionhead eventually "decided against" the change.
Talking to GamerZines last week on the subject of Fable III's butler, who's voiced by British comedian John Cleese, Molyneux commented "because he's played by John Cleese he has got some fantastic amazing dialogue, he is going to make you laugh.
"We were considering replacing the Fable dog with a Fable parrot just so you could do the parrot sketch that had John Cleese in, but we decided against that."
The Fable dog, of course, was introduced in Fable II as a sidekick to the player character, with Molyneux hyping it as a tool to prompt an emotional reaction from the player.
Like the hero, the dog's appearance would change depending on decisions made by the player.
It's due to return in Fable III.
Fable III launches this October on Xbox 360. A PC release is due to follow later in the year
