BioWare "Aware" They Need to Provide Introductory Experience For Mass Effect 2 on PS3

The biggest and most welcome surprise for PS3 owners at this year's Gamescom was easily the announcement that BioWare's hugely successful Mass Effect 2 title would be heading to PS3.

Talking with the BioWare doctors at Gamescom this year, Ray Muzyka, BioWare CEO, when asked about whether we could see the original on the platform, told PS3T that they are aware that they need to provide an introductory experience for PS3 owners.

“We’re really focusing on Mass Effect 2,” said Muzyka, “We are aware that we really need to provide a great introductory experience to bring that context for people that want to just jump into the Mass Effect 2 action and have some context for it, so we’re going to make sure we provide that as well as part of the Mass Effect 2 launch on PS3.”

Can PS3 owners expect to see the 360/PC downloadable content available at launch as well then?

“Our goal is to try and provide a lot of extra content,” said Muzyka, “Naturally some of the PDLC we’ve used in the past on 360 is a good jump off point for that.”

BioWare were unwilling to comment on whether or not that content will be included on the disc though.

“I don’t think we’ve announced the details of that yet, but that’s certainly an interesting idea,” added Dr Ray.

Whether any of that implies that the original will be heading to the PS3 remains to be seen, but considering that the best experience you can get from Mass Effect 2 is achieved with a Mass Effect 1 save, BioWare need to address that somehow.

If they don't... we still have Mass Effect 2 on the PS3, so you win either way.
